Eastside Coffee Place
Did you know that before the building on the corner of Milpas and Montecito became Wescom Credit Union (now gone) there was rumor that it was going to be a coffee house...supposedly a corporate one. Starbucks?? Coffee Bean?? Peet's?? Even though we liked Wescom very much we definitely mourned the fact that we remained without a decent coffee house! The building is empty again...hint hint.
Not to disrespect Jack's Bagels (we love Jack's!) or East Beach Cafe w/it's yummy Peet's brew & epic views...but where oh where are the Coffee Cat's on Milpas?
Come on, coffee houses! We need you!!
If anyone has recommendations for great coffee on the Eastside, please let us know!

Pathways of Peace is a replica of the National Tree exhibit near the ellipse of the White House during the holidays. Our version will bring together the community and incorporate the students from classrooms at Franklin Elementary School, Santa Barbara Junior High, and Santa Barbara High School to provide the tree decorations and artwork needed to produce the replica. There will be 56 trees placed at Franklin Elementary School. They will represent the 50 states, five territories and the District of Columbia. This community event will also feature various food, games, and music. Te event is a fundraiser to support the Diabetes Resource Center and Franklin Elementary School programs. The Diabetes Resource Center of Santa Barbara County is now piloting a model prevention program: the Eastside Childhood Obesity Prevention and Wellness Initiative. The program is being implemented at Franklin with support from the Cottage Hospital and the Santa Barbara City School District to take preventative action to forestall the development of adult onset diabetes in our youth. The event will take place on both Saturday, December 19th and Sunday, December 20th from 4:00pm – 10:00pm.
